Las muestras se recolectaron mediante las técnicas de Punción con aguja fina (PAF), Punción aspiración con aguja fina (PAAF), Hisopado e Impronta y se procesaron con tinción Diff-Quik para ser sometidas a la observación microscópica. El análisis de los datos se realizó mediante las pruebas Chi Cuadrado y Test exacto de Fisher. Se demostró la prevalencia de TVT en 37.5 % (18/48) de los canes del estudio. Se estableció asociación estadística entre la localización corpórea (p= <0.0001), la etapa etaria (p= 0.0176), el estado reproductivo (p= 0.0182) y el tipo de tenencia (p= 0.0002) con la positividad a TVT; no asociándose al sexo o raza del paciente. Concluyendo que el tumor venéreo transmisible es una patología oncológica presente en la ciudad de Chimbote y se relaciona a factores predisponentes como la edad, estado reproductivo y tipo de tenencia.

For this, 48 patients with signs compatible with TVT were selected, considering the inclusion criteria: canines regardless of age, sex, breed or reproductive status. Samples were collected using fine needle non-aspiration (FNNA), fine-needle aspiration (FNA), swab biopsy and imprint techniques and were processed with Diff-Quik staining for microscopic observation. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test and Fisher's exact test. The prevalence of TVT was demonstrated in 37.5% (18/48) of the study dogs. A statistical association was developed between body location (p= <0.0001), age stage (p= 0.0176), reproductive status (p= 0.0182) and type of ownership (p= 0.0002) and TVT positivity; no association was found with the sex or breed of the patient.
