El análisis se llevó a cabo utilizando análisis bivariado, evaluando la hipótesis mediante pruebas de correlación de Chi Cuadrado o exacta de Fisher, considerando los supuestos de dichas pruebas, y se consideraron significativos los valores de p < 0.05. Resultados: El estudio realizado en el Hospital Jorge Reátegui Delgado de Piura reveló que el síndrome metabólico se asocia significativamente con un mayor riesgo de colelitiasis (P=0.04; OR=3.76). En el análisis demográfico, el grupo de casos incluyó un 57.41% de hombres y un 42.59% de mujeres, y la edad promedio fue de 38.31 años, contrastando con los 40.12 años del grupo control. Factores como el sexo (P=0.04; OR=2.12) y la edad(P=0.04) mostraron ser significativos. La procedencia, sedentarismo, tabaquismo, no lograron significancia estadística. Conclusiones: Existe asociación del síndrome metabólico y el desarrollo de colelitiasis en pacientes atendidos en el servicio de cirugía del Hospital Jorge Reátegui Delgado de Piura.

Material and Method: This was an observational, retrospective case-control study using secondary data collected from medical records at Hospital II-1 Jorge Reátegui Delgado in Piura. The analysis was conducted using bivariate analysis, testing the hypothesis through Chi-square or Fisher's exact correlation tests, considering the assumptions of these tests, with p-values < 0.05 deemed significant. Results: The study conducted at the Jorge Reátegui Delgado Hospital in Piura revealed that metabolic syndrome is significantly associated with a higher risk of cholelithiasis (p=0.04; OR=3.76). In the demographic analysis, the case group included 57.41% men and 42.59% women, with an average age of 38.31 years, compared to 40.12 years in the control group. Factors such as sex (p=0.04; OR=2.12) and age (p=0.04) were found to be significant. However, variables such as place of residence, sedentary lifestyle, and smoking did not reach statistical significance.
