Identificar los factores asociados al perfil de resistencia antimicrobiana de E. coli uropatógena en pacientes del Hospital Cayetano Heredia III-1, Piura. Métodos. Se realizó un estudio transversal analítico en el Hospital Cayetano Heredia, utilizando una muestra aleatoria de 320 pacientes con infecciones urinarias causadas por E. coli. Se recolectaron datos sobre factores demográficos, comorbilidades y uso previo de antibióticos, y se analizó la asociación con el perfil de resistencia antimicrobiana mediante pruebas estadísticas bivariadas y multivariadas. Resultados. El estudio identificó que la resistencia antimicrobiana en Escherichia coli uropatógena se asocia con el uso previo de antibióticos (82.1%) y la diabetes mellitus (66.6%). La edad avanzada y el sexo femenino también fueron factores relevantes. Se observaron altos niveles de resistencia a ciprofloxacino (70.8%), ceftazidima (62%) y ceftriaxona (65.4%), mientras que los carbapenémicos mostraron baja resistencia. Conclusión: El uso previo de antibióticos y la diabetes mellitus están significativamente relacionados con la resistencia, mientras que la edad avanzada y el sexo femenino también influyen en su prevalencia

This phenomenon, exacerbated by the indiscriminate use of antibiotics, compromises the effective treatment of urinary tract infections, severely impacting public health. Objectives. To identify the factors associated with the antimicrobial resistance profile of E. coli in patients at Hospital Cayetano Heredia III-1, Piura. Methods. An analytical cross-sectional study will be conducted at Hospital Cayetano Heredia, using a random sample of 320 patients with urinary tract infections caused by E. coli. Data on demographic factors, comorbidities, and prior antibiotic use will be collected, and their association with the antimicrobial resistance profile will be analyzed using bivariate and multivariate statistical tests. Results. The study identified that antimicrobial resistance in uropathogenic Escherichia coli is associated with prior antibiotic use (82.1%) and diabetes mellitus (66.6%). Advanced age and female sex were also relevant factors. High levels of resistance were observed for ciprofloxacin (70.8%), ceftazidime (62%), and ceftriaxone (65.4%), while carbapenems showed low resistance.
