This research is qualitative, descriptive and exploratory, conducted in the city of Trujillo, Instituto Regional de Neoplasias – Norte, the objective was to describe and analyze the perspective of nursing care of the adult with cancer in the postoperative period. Was taken as the theoretical and philosophical basis of nursing concepts and human care according to Jean Watson (1988), Regina Waldow (2008) and E. Levinas (1974) that helped analyze the care of an adult with cancer. In the data collection, in-depth interview was used a guide. The thematic discourse analysis allowed us to disclose and visible nursing care from the perspective of the adult with cancer. In the results the following categories and subcategories was obtained: Care otherness and empirical subcategories: the encounter with the face of the other, care: being for the other (love, kind treatment, inspires confidence, faith and hope, spirituality, patience and respect) and the body as a place of care (therapeutic care, comfort and convenience). The present research on the care of the nurse in the hospital with cancer person intends to contribute to clinical practice, teaching, management and research from the perspective of nursing care in the otherness that the cancer patient needs, and requires nurses to establish a model of care which must be taken into account qualities as a person and as a professional,
