Sumario:The objective was to determine the relationship between psychosocial characteristics and academic performance in students of health sciences careers National University of the Peruvian Amazon Iquitos 2024. For which the quantitative approach was used with a non-experimental descriptive cross sectional and correlational design. A sample of 237 UNAP Health Sciences students was used. The technique used was the survey and the instruments were the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale, DASS-21 and the Academic Performance Record Form. The SPSS statistical package version 24.0 was used to process the information, and the chi-square statistical test (x^2) was used for the bivariate analysis. According to the results, 36.7% (87) did not present depression, 25.3% (60) presented moderate anxiety, 32.9% (78) did not present stress and 44.3% (105) presented a good academic performance. In conclusion, an association was found between academic performance and depression (p=0.002), while no association was demonstrated with anxiety (p=0.355) and stress (p=0.797); The importance of the psychometric instrument (Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale) DASS-21 is highlighted for identifying students who present some type of disorder.
