description Objetivo: determinar el nivel de afrontamiento y adaptación de los familiares de pacientes de cuidados intensivos en un hospital público de cusco 2024. Materiales y métodos: se realizará un estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo de corte trasversal, en familiares de pacientes hospitalizados en la unidad de cuidados intensivos del Hospital Regional de Cusco en el año 2024,constara con una muestra de 116 participantes, siendo familiares directos del paciente hospitalizado en la unidad de cuidados intensivos mayor a 18 años de edad, que haya permanecido más de 12 horas y tenga una categoría de prioridad I y II , los criterios de exclusión son las categorías III y IV, medido con el instrumento de escala de medición del proceso de afrontamiento y adaptación elaborado por Callista Roy 2004 adaptado por Acevedo, 2017, modificado por Ortega 2019 cuya validez fue de 92.2% y confiabilidad de 0.87. con sus 5 dimensiones y 47 preguntas, distribuidas en escala de Likert. Resultados: el análisis de datos recabado será procesado con técnicas estadísticas descriptivas en tablas de frecuencia relacionado con la variable de afrontamiento. Conclusiones: evidenciará el nivel de afrontamiento de familiares en pacientes críticos en cusco, dando un referente de la realidad de carencias de salud en la región, servirá de modelo para próximas investigaciones.

Materials and methods: a quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional study will be carried out on relatives of patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Regional Hospital of Cusco in the year 2024, it will consist of a sample of 116 participants, being direct relatives of the hospitalized patient. in the intensive care unit over 18 years of age, who has stayed more than 12 hours and has a priority category I and II, the exclusion criteria are categories III and IV, measured with the instrument measuring scale of the coping and adaptation process developed by Callista Roy 2004 adapted by Acevedo, 2017, modified by Ortega 2019 whose validity was 92.2% and reliability of 0.87. with its 5 dimensions and 47 questions, distributed on a Likert scale. Results: the data analysis collected will be processed with descriptive statistical techniques in frequency tables related to the coping variable.
