Introducción: El objetivo de investigación fue identificar si existe asociación entre la rotura prematura de membranas (RPM) y la taquipnea transitoria del recién nacido (TTRN). Material y métodos: La metodología respondió a un diseño no experimental de cohorte-retrospectivo, con paradigma cuantitativo. La muestra fue de 884 recién nacidos de un hospital público de la ciudad de Trujillo. Resultados: Se obtuvo que, el 95.93% no presenta RPM, mientras que solo el 4.07% de los casos sí presentan esta condición y; el 94.46% no presenta TTRN, mientras que el 5.54% de los casos sí experimenta esta condición, luego, la RPM y la TTRN se encuentran asociadas (χ2 = 434.25, p < 0.01); el mayor porcentaje de pacientes fue de sexo masculino (58.31%), provenientes de la ciudad de Trujillo (46.00%). Conclusión: Existe asociación entre las variables investigadas. Se deben implementar medidas preventivas durante el embarazo para reducir el riesgo de RPM, fortalecer estrategias de atención médica prenatal y neonatal, así como mejorar los servicios de atención materno-infantil. |
