description El presente artículo de investigación científica tiene como objetivo principal identificar los conceptos de lo abyecto, la monstruosidad y la repugnancia en las películas Eraserhead (1977), de David Lynch, y The Brood (1979), de David Cronenberg. La importancia de examinar estas categorías de estudio y reconocerlas en una selección de determinadas escenas es que permiten profundizar en nuevas capas de significación que potencian y le dan un sentido más amplio a la propuesta cinematográfica de ambos autores, además de darle espacio de análisis y reflexión a estéticas asociadas con la fealdad. Por último, al tratarse de una investigación cualitativa, se realizó una metodología de índole exploratorio, de análisis de contenidos, donde se trabajó con escenas específicas de las películas seleccionadas.

The importance of examining these categories of study and recognizing them in a selection of certain scenes is that they allow delving into new layers of meaning that enhance and give a broader meaning to the cinematographic proposal of both authors, in addition to giving it space for analysis and reflection to aesthetics associated with ugliness.
