The studies revealed the effectiveness of lichens as bioaccumulator of metals such as lead, zinc, cadmium, nickel, copper, mercury, and chromium. Likewise, the existence of methodologies for heavy metal analysis was verified, and the environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM), was the most useful in the studies reviewed. Keywords: bioindicator – heavy metals – lichens – mining – pollutionLa presencia de la minería en el Perú es un factor importante en el desarrollo económico. En este contexto este documento tiene como objetivo aplicar los líquenes en minería en zonas altoandinas del Perú y establecer una relación entre el desarrollo minero y la aplicación de líquenes como bioindicadores de contaminación. Los estudios revelaron la efectividad de los líquenes como bioacumuladores de metales como plomo, zinc, cadmio, níquel, cobre, mercurio y cromo. Asimismo, se comprobó la existencia de metodologías para el análisis de metales pesados siendo el microscopio electrónico de barrido ambiental (MEBA), el de mayor utilidad en los estudios revisados.
