Sumario:The purpose of the research was to analyze the area of ​​Communication in the National Curricular Design (DCN) - RM 0440-2008-ED, while at the level of the specific objectives it is proposed to describe the internal sequentiality, analyze with philological criteria the content of the Communication area and propose diversification criteria in addition to developing consistency analysis. It is concluded that it is urgent to modify the current DCN so that its operationalization in the classroom allows the achievement of the planned capabilities. Furthermore, it is necessary to explicitly articulate the capabilities of the literature component, since all forms of language are reflected in it.
