Descripción
Sumario:The purpose of this article is to contextualize how the Peruvian State addresses the problem of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing internationally at different levels: universal, regional and even bilateral. This can be done both through legally binding norms and non-binding instruments. The justification for this lies in the fact that the actions of the State are often questioned before certain conducts that would be linked to this malpractice, such as the lack of supervision, oversight and control of foreign vessels destined to catch resources such as jumbo flying squid. From the review of the levels of international participation of Peru in relation to the indicated matter, it is concluded that, although it is adequate, it could be improved in some specific aspects, for which recommendations are provided for such effects.
