Sumario: | Objective: Describe the prevalence and factors associated with adverse reactions due to the use of hormonal contraceptive methods in users of metropolitan Lima between the months of May and June 2018. Materials and methods: Observational, descriptive study. 215 women of childbearing age (15 to 49 years old) who used hormonal contraceptive methods in metropolitan Lima, from May to June 2017, participated in order to identify adverse reactions associated with the use of hormonal contraceptives; The variables were taken into account: age, harmful habits, physical profile, pathological history, obstetric history, hormonal contraception, time of use of the hormonal contraceptive, appearance of ADR and description of it. Results: Of the total number of women interviewed, 74.9% presented RAMs. The ages with the highest prevalence were between 19-29 years in 56.5%. In the group with RAM, 46% have no history of using MACH; Likewise, 32.3% of the patients with ADR were users of the monthly blister and 31.7% quarterly, in 30.4% they were oral pills. Adverse reactions, mainly were alteration in weight in 34.2%, followed by gastrointestinal disorders in 18.6%, and headache in 21.7%; All reactions were mild and resolved spontaneously. The abandonment of the contraceptive was significantly higher in the group that presented adverse effects (OR 2.4; CI: 95%: 1.07-5.56). Conclusion: The adverse effects of hormonal contraceptive methods are high in users. The use of hormonal injectables and the abandonment of contraception is associated with an increased risk of adverse effects. |
