Ethics in the public service: a theoretical review

The purpose of this theoretical review article is to analyze ethics in the public service, given that it is important because it is a fundamental pillar for the proper functioning of State institutions and public officials and servants, since they are responsible for providing a public service in accordance with current demands in a relevant, responsible and quality manner for the public user. The research methodology was focused on the documentary analysis of scientific information that allowed covering the topics of interest for its development, the level is descriptive, of non-experimental design of hermeneutic and interpretative approach. Research works such as theses, scientific articles, specialized texts and complementary materials were analyzed for the preparation of the article that is the subject of this study. The results showed the concern for the problem of corruption in the public administration that affects the social and economic development of the country as a whole, generating in the population the perception of a lack of attention to the demands of the citizens. Finally, it is necessary to be aware that public ethics is currently a great responsibility of all public sectors and levels of government of the nation.
