La investigación sugiere que la mayoría de las mujeres emprendedoras tiene un bajo nivel de activos, pero existe la oportunidad de elegir respaldada por el sistema financiero y los programas comerciales del gobierno nacional. Las normas sociales son las instituciones informales que crean barreras y limitan que las mujeres tomen la opción de ser emprendedores y lograr los resultados deseados. La microempresa puede ser un medio de empoderamiento y transformación de las relaciones sociales; sin embargo, para un grupo de mujeres la eliminación de los valores patriarcales sigue siendo crítica.

Using the empowerment framework by Alsop, Bertelsen and Holland and the Asset Vulnerability Framework by Moser, the study analyses the agency and the structure opportunities in the context of entrepreneurship. The research suggests that most of the women entrepreneurs have a low level of assets but the opportunity to make a choice exist supported by the financial system and the business programs by the National Government. The social norms are the informal institutions that create the barriers and limit that women use the choice of being entrepreneurs and achieve the desired results.
