description Los procesos de reubicación y reasentamiento se están desarrollando cada vez con más frecuencia, los cuales pueden ser atribuidos al cambio climático y al efecto de las industrias extractivas. La nueva ciudad de Belén es un caso reciente de un proceso de reubicación en la Amazonía. El gobierno peruano decidió reubicar el área baja del barrio de Belén porque se encontraba siendo inundado por el río Itaya durante las temporadas de lluvia, creciendo el nivel del agua cada año, de acuerdo al Ministerio de Vivienda y Saneamiento. En esta investigación se analiza los costos directos e indirectos y los beneficios de la reubicación en el contexto de participación de sus habitantes, la estructura de empleo, movilidad y las prácticas sociales. Además, está investigación busca explicar cuál fue la respuesta de sus habitantes ante esta nueva situación a través de movimientos urbanos sociales. La tesis exploratoria utiliza métodos de investigación mixtos, que buscan destacar información minuciosa a pesar de la poca disponibilidad de información.

The new city of Belen is a recent example of relocation in the Amazonian. The Peruvian government decided to relocate the lower area of Belen´s neighborhood because it is being invaded by the Itaya river during rainy seasons. In this paper, I analyze the direct and indirect costs and benefits of relocation in the context of territorial cohesion, employment, mobility, access to adequate housing, using the approach of risk management. Further, the thesis aims to explain the urban social movements’ response to the new situation.
