En la presente investigación se exploraron las reacciones emocionales en un grupo de 7 mujeres con cáncer de cuello uterino, con un rango de edad entre 34 y 49 años, que fueron pacientes de un centro de prevención de cáncer de Lima Metropolitana. Para dicho propósito se creó y utilizó una entrevista semi estructurada de 6 preguntas abiertas y dirigidas a explorar dichas reacciones emocionales. Se identificaron tres momentos principales a lo largo del proceso de enfermedad: el pre diagnóstico, el diagnóstico y el post diagnóstico. Se encontró que las mujeres experimentaron más reacciones emocionales frente al diagnóstico, sin embargo algunas de estas reacciones persistieron en momentos posteriores, dentro de los cuales estuvieron los tratamientos y la etapa de remisión del cáncer. Algunas de las reacciones encontradas fueron la depresión, el miedo, la preocupación, la vergüenza, el shock emocional, entre otras. Además, se hallaron otros aspectos importantes relacionados con el proceso de enfermedad como algunas reacciones conductuales, cognitivas y sociales, así como el autocuidado, el afrontamiento, el soporte, la motivación, el sistema de salud y la percepción que tuvieron las participantes del cáncer a raíz de haberlo vivido. |

A semi-structured interview composed of 6 open questions was created, and aimed at exploring emotional reactions. Three main moments were identified in the disease process: pre diagnosis, diagnosis and post diagnosis. Results indicate that women experienced more emotional reactions in reference to the diagnosis; however, some of these reactions persisted later, namely the treatment and cancer remission stages. Some of the reactions were depression, fear, worry, embarrassment, emotional shock, among others.
