Esta investigación explora la lucha entre la eficacia simbólica de los comunicadores interculturales frente al poder coercitivo estatal en los dos noticieros en lenguas originarias: Ñuqanchik (quechua) y Jiwasanaka (aimara) por la definición de identidad indígena en la televisión nacional. A través del análisis de contenido cualitativo de entrevistas semiestructuradas a profundidad a los distintos agentes del campo, concluimos que existe una contradicción entre las autopercepciones de los comunicadores interculturales con los productos finales, pues la comunidad indígena queda retratada en el plano turístico y cultural, lo que deja de lado la participación y el ejercicio ciudadano, revelando que la construcción de la otredad por parte de la institución productora es uno que tiene implicancias a nivel subjetivo de los comunicadores, pero no a nivel objetivo en la población meta. Si bien el comunicador intercultural no aplana su identidad para acceder a la esfera laborar, sí despliega e institucionaliza los discursos hegemónicos para mantenerse posicionado en ese nuevo espacio de poder.

This study explores the struggle between the symbolic efficacy of intercultural communicators and the coercive power of the state in two national news programs broadcast in Indigenous languages: Ñuqanchik (Quechua) and Jiwasanaka (Aymara), focusing on how Indigenous identity is defined on national television. Through a qualitative content analysis of in-depth semi-structured interviews with various field agents, our findings reveal a contradiction between the self-perceptions of intercultural communicators and the final media products. Indigenous communities are predominantly portrayed through a cultural and touristic lens, thereby sidelining civic participation and agency. This suggests that the institutional construction of alterity affects the communicators on a subjective level but has limited objective impact on the target Indigenous audience.
