Se utilizó la Escala de Pensamientos y Conductas Auto-lesivas (EPCA), la adaptación al español del Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) y la versión abreviada del inventario COPE. Adicionalmente, se analizaron variables sociodemográficas y datos de historia clínica. Los resultados mostraron en detalle las características de la conducta autolesiva. Se encontró que hacerse cortes en la piel era el método más utilizado y que el desahogo fue la principal razón que conllevó a la población a ejecutar dicha conducta. Asimismo, se halló mayor predominancia de afecto negativo y ligeramente de afrontamiento pasivo. Finalmente, se encontraron diferencias en los estilos de afrontamiento y afecto respecto a la edad de inicio de autolesión de los participantes y la cantidad de veces que realizaron la conducta en el último año.

For this purpose we evaluated a group of 19 teenagers between the ages of 13 and 22, with an average age of 16.63, who attended outpatient visits in a psychiatric hospital in Lima and had self-injurious behavior. The methods used were Thoughts Scale and self-injurious behaviors (EPCA) also the Spanish adaptation of Positive and Negative Affective Schedule (PANAS) and the abbreviated version of the inventory COPE. In addition, sociodemographic and medical history data were analyzed. Results showed in detail the characteristics of self-injurious behavior. We found that to cut your skin was the most used method and that the relief was the main reason which led people to run such conduct. Also, greater predominance of negative affect and slightly passive coping was found.
