Resúmenes4 páginas.Ingemmet realizó la actualización de la Carta Geológica Nacional a escala 1:50 000 de la cuenca Talara entre el 2011 y 2013 (por publicar). La cuenca cenozoica Talara está ubicada al Noroeste del territorio Peruano, entre los departamentos de Piura y Tumbes. Se extiende paralela a la costa, limitada al Norte por la cuenca Tumbes-Progreso, al Este con las montañas de Amotapes, al Sur con la cuenca Sechura, y al Oeste sus límites se prolongan hasta el zócalo continental, abarcando un área de ~15,000 km². Tiene una dirección preferente Noreste-Suroeste. (fig.01) que es sub-paralela a la Cordillera de la Costa.La Formación Mogollón del Eoceno Inferior, es uno de los horizontes productores más importantes de la cuenca Talara y tiene una gran amplitud en toda la cuenca.
