Resúmenes4 páginas.La zona de estudios se ubica entre los departamentos de San Martín y Amazonas, comprende un área aproximada de 2366 km2 entre los 6°32’ y 7° 0’ de Latitud Sur y 77°13’ y 77°46’ de Longitud Oeste (Fig. 1). El presente trabajo se realizó en el marco de la actualización de los mapas geológicos a la escala 1:50000 de las hojas Leimebamba 14h (Sánchez, 1995) y Huayabamba 14i (Sánchez & Jacay, 1997). Se realizó un cartografiado a escala 1:25 000, así como columnas estratigráficas, que evidencian las unidades estratigráficas inferiores (Carbonífero-Pérmiano) de la Cuenca Huallaga, para el sector Noroccidental. La zona de estudios cuenta con unidades que van desde el Carbonífero Inferior (Grupo Ambo) hasta el Cretáceo Superior (Fig. 2A), y está ubicada entre los dominios estructurales de la Cordillera Oriental y de la Zona Subandina (Fig. 2B) (Carlotto et al., 2009). Tectónicamente, el origen de los pliegues se debe a la actividad de las fallas inversas Chachapoyas y Zarumilla (Fig. 1) (Rodríguez et al., 2014).
