Governments and health care systems in Latin America face numerous challenges as a result of increasing morbidity and mortality from cancer. Multiple international organizations have recognized the need for collaborative action on and technical support for cancer research and control in Latin America. The Center for Global Health at the US National Cancer Institute (NCI-CGH) is one entity among many that are working in the region and has sought to develop a strategy for working in Latin America that draws on and expands the collaborative potential of engaged, skilled, and diverse partners. NCI-CGH has worked toward developing and implementing initiatives in collaboration with global partners that share the common objectives of building a global cancer research community and translating research results into evidence-informed policy and practice. Both objectives are complementary and synergistic and are additionally supported by an overarching strategic framework that is focused on partnerships and science diplomacy. This work highlights the overall strategy for NCI-CGH engagement in Latin America through partnerships and diplomacy, and highlights selected collaborative efforts that are aimed at improving cancer outcomes in the region.application/pdfengAmerican Society of Clinical OncologyUSinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Cancer ResearchLatin AmericaGlobal Healthhttps://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#3.02.21Perspectives on Strengthening Cancer Research and Control in Latin America Through Partnerships and Diplomacy: Experience of the National Cancer Institute's Center for Global Healthinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionreponame:INEN-Institucionalinstname:Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicasinstacron:INENORIGINALFrech 2018.pdfapplication/pdf514663https://repositorio.inen.sld.pe/backend/api/core/bitstreams/e312d28c-efe5-4c93-8bc2-3b92aadfa047/downloadb9b41967b00c7d2aa2a72e02396e2664MD51trueAnonymousREADTEXTFrech 2018.pdf.txtWritten by FormatFilter org.dspace.app.mediafilter.TikaTextExtractionFilter on 2025-03-29T20:42:11Z (GMT).Extracted texttext/plain52525https://repositorio.inen.sld.pe/backend/api/core/bitstreams/14d9f69d-c107-463a-b793-ad92520d65da/downloada114e2c2536e2eda2b51f601a4035b6fMD54falseAnonymousREADTHUMBNAILFrech 2018.pdf.jpgWritten by FormatFilter org.dspace.app.mediafilter.PDFBoxThumbnail on 2025-03-29T20:42:11Z (GMT).Generated Thumbnailimage/jpeg50962https://repositorio.inen.sld.pe/backend/api/core/bitstreams/5ed22e73-516e-4571-b4a1-9b664a810cc1/downloadf19314b0616ae7a30592108c40d5651cMD55falseAnonymousREAD20.500.14703/143oai:repositorio.inen.sld.pe:20.500.14703/1432026-02-17T14:47:15.703Zhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessopen.accesshttps://repositorio.inen.sld.peRepositorio del Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicasrepositorio@inen.sld.pe |
