Se determinó 10 grupos de zooplancton, siendo los Copepoda, Euphausida y Siphonophora los más frecuentes y abundantes. Las mayores abundancias se localizaron al suroeste de la isla Rey Jorge, entre ésta y la isla Gibbs y al norte de la isla D’Urville. Los niveles de abundancia estuvieron entre 612 y 21.592 ind/1000 m3 para la malla de 300 μ y entre 137 y 12.988 ind/1000 m3 para la malla de 500 μ. El análisis de diversidad mostró valores que estuvieron entre 1,32 y 2,32 bits para la malla de 300 μ y entre 0,68 y 2,35 bits para la malla de 500 μ. Los mayores valores de diversidad se encontraron al suroeste del estrecho Bransfield, cerca de la isla Torre, y al noreste de las islas Shetland del Sur, entre las islas Rey Jorge y Gibbs; las estaciones menos diversas se localizaron en el centro del estrecho Bransfield y al noreste de la isla D’Urville.ABSTRACT: This report presents Antarctic zooplankton community structure from the Bransfield Strait and around Elephant Island during austral summer 2007. A total of 10 groups of zooplankton were identified. Copepoda, Euphausida and Siphonophora were the most frequent and abundant. The highest abundance was located southwest of King George Island and between it and the Gibbs Island and north of D’Urville Island. Abundance levels ranged from 612 to 21592 ind/1000 m3 for 300 μm mesh and 137 to 12988 ind/1000 m3 for 500 μm mesh. Diversity analysis showed values between 1.32 and 2.32 bits to 300 μm mesh and between 0.68 and 2.35 bits to 500 μm mesh.
