The main objective of this study was to determine if there are differences in the manner of carrying out vocational guidance among public and private schools of the city of Lima. The study sample consisted of 244 subjects, 98 men and 146 women, students of University High of San Marcos Center for Special Cycle 2011-2012. The mean age was 16.3 years. For the realization of this research was developed and implemented the Rating Scale Vocational Guidance (EEOV), an instrument based on the model of vocational guidance Manuel Alvarez et al. (1994). The results indicate that the group of public school no different private schools group in the overall score of the scale. The results also indicate that the group of public school no different private schools group in the dimensions of life project and information about yourself, information about careers, analysis, reflection and guidance, advice, and Decision-making and career choice. Yes there is a statistically significant difference in the dimension information Peruvian educational system. Apparently, private schools offer better information to their students about the Peruvian educational system that offered by public schools. Vocational programs that are taught in the public schools of the city of Lima would have to place greater emphasis on this aspect.
El objetivo principal del presente estudio fue determinar si existen diferencias en cuanto a la manera de llevar a cabo la orientación vocacional entre los colegios públicos y privados de la ciudad de Lima. La muestra de estudio estuvo constituida por 244 sujetos, 98 hombres y 146 mujeres, estudiantes del Centro Preuniversitario de San Marcos durante el Ciclo Extraordinario 2011-2012. La media de edad fue de 16.3 años. Para la realización de la presente investigación se elaboró y aplicó la Escala de Evaluación de la Orientación Vocacional (EEOV), instrumento basado en el modelo de orientación vocacional de Manuel Álvarez et al. (1994). Los resultados indican que el grupo de colegios públicos no difiere del grupo de colegios privados en la puntuación global de la escala. Los resultados también indican que el grupo de colegios públicos no difiere del grupo de colegios privados en las dimensiones Proyecto de vida e información sobre sí mismo, Información sobre las profesiones, Análisis-reflexión y orientación-consejo, y Toma de decisión y elección de carrera. Sí existe una diferencia estadísticamente significativa en la dimensión Información sobre el sistema educativo peruano. Al parecer, los colegios privados ofrecen una mejor información a sus estudiantes sobre el sistema educativo peruano que la ofrecida por los colegios públicos. Los programas de orientación vocacional que se impartan en los colegios públicos de la ciudad de Lima tendrían que poner un énfasis mayor a este aspecto.
