Mashua (Tropaeolum tuberosum) is an Andean tuber rich in phenolic compounds and glucosinolates, known for its consumption that allows the prevention and/or reduction of getting diseases. The present research evaluated the effect of different types of post-harvest management (sunny, bleached, and freeze-dried) on glucosinolate content and its relationship with myrosinase activity. It is also important to note that when plant cells are damaged and glucosinolates meet the plant's myrosinase, which hydrolyzes them and degrades them to other compounds. In the present research, the types of glucosinolates, the content of glucosinolates and the activity of myrosinase of the purple variety of fresh raw mashua and in mashua treated by several types of processing were evaluated, including the previous treatment (sunny and unscrewed), the boiling treatment and the microwave treatment, with whitenin...

This research aimed to remove Cd (II), Cr (VI), Ni (II), Pb (II), and V (V) from aqueous solutions prepared in distilled water using “Chacco” clay from the Peruvian highlands as adsorbent. The adsorption process was carried out in Batch type systems for 120 min using solutions of each metal at a concentration of 5 mg/L in aqueous systems of a single metal or monometallic (MAS) and solutions of the five metals simultaneously or multimetallic (MMAS). For this purpose, the “Chacco” clay was first characterized by SEM-EDS analysis, finding a laminated clay structure with an elemental composition of C, Al, Fe, Na, Mg, Ca, K, As, Cu, Pd, O, and Ta. The results using 10 g/L of “Chacco” clay showed that the best adsorption efficiency in both MAS and MMAS aqueous systems is achieved at pH = 4 achieving in MAS aqueous systems the removal of 64.16 ± 0.98 % of Cd (II), 95.70 ± 0.81 % o...

Adsorption processes with biomaterials are an environmentally friendly technology that allows the removal of pollutants; on the other hand, it is known that different factors can alter the removal of pollutants. For this reason, the kinetics of removal of Disperse Blue 124 (DB-124) dye from water using Fuerte variety avocado seed waste as adsorbent was evaluated in the present research. The studies were carried out in batch adsorption systems. For this purpose, the effect of pH, adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration and temperature on the removal kinetics were jointly evaluated. It was found that the best conditions of the adsorption process were at an initial DB-124 concentration of 200 mg/L, a dosage of 2 g/L, pH=2 and a temperature of 40 °C, achieving the removal of 87.64 % of the dye. The kinetic study was fit in all cases to a pseudo-second order model, which indicates that t...
