Currently, population growth in cities results in an increase in urban vehicle traffic. That is why it is necessary to improve the quality of life of citizens based on the improvement of transport control services. To solve this problem, there are solutions, related to the improvement of the road infrastructure by increasing the roads or paths. El Instituto de Investigación de la Amazonia Peruana, IIAP, y el Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Capacitación en Telecomunicaciones de la Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, INICTEL-UNI, han realizado en los dos últimos años actividades conjuntas de investigación aplicada al desarrollo tecnológico con el objetivo de diseñar e implementar redes de sensores inalámbricos para el monitoreo de parámetros que definen la calidad de agua de los ríos de la Amazonia peruana ubicados en Loreto, Ucayali y Madre de Dios. El presente trabajo realiza una investigación sobre el internet de las cosas, sus desarrollos tecnológicos, patentes y producción científica, relacionada o aplicada a la agricultura. En la primera parte se realiza una introducción al tema destacando su importancia en el entorno global, luego se construye un marco teórico tocando las definiciones importantes en este tema y posteriormente se menciona la metodología utilizada como una propuesta para sistemas de vigilancia tecnológica en instituciones.
