La cañihua es un cultivo ancestral, poco valorado, con potencial agroalimentario, que tolera el cambio climático y que posee la mayor biodiversidad de variedades y accesiones las cuales se ubican en Puno. Sin embargo, por una serie de factores y contingencias han perdido competitividad que se ve reflejado en la disminución de sus ingresos anuales. Una forma de contrarrestar esta situación es la asociatividad entre productores agrarios con el objetivo de capitalizarse y mejorar su calidad de vida.
