Se analizan y describen las características de los niveles de desempeño del lenguaje de una muestra de 541 escolares de segundo a sexto de primaria procedentes de centros edu-cativos estatales y particulares de Lima Metropolitana y se presentan las normas percentilares de las áreas y subtests de la Batería Woodcock de Proficiencia en el idioma en función a la edad y grado escolar.

The study analizes the results of the Exploratory and Confirmatory Factorial Analysis of the subtests and areas of the Woodcock Language Proficiency Battery in order to determine its theorical validity. The participants were 541 students from 2th to 6th grades of public and private elementary schools. It was found that the Exploratory Factorial Analysis showed two factors: Factor 1, related to higher and complex linguistic processes such as categorization, meaning interpretation, analogical relationships and met comprehension. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis showed that the assumed model was valid The Exploratory Factorial Analysis of the areas (Oral Language, Reading and Written Language) showed they measure just one construct these obtained results were confirmed through the correspondent Factor Analysis.

The article analizes the quantitative characteristics of the language proficiency on a sample of 541 elementary students from second to sixth degree of Lima Metropolitana. Percentile ranks related to the total score, areas and subtests of the Woodcock Language Proficiency Battery are presented.

Se analizan los resultados del Análisis FactoriaI Exploratorio y Confirmatorio de loa subtests y de las áreas de la Batería Woodcock de Proficiencia en el Idioma a fin de determinar la validez teórica de la Batería. Se trabajó con los datos de la muestra de estandarización conformada por 541 alumnos de segundo a sexto grado de Primaria de centros educativos estatales y particulares. El Análisis Exploratorio de los subtests mostró la existencia de dos factores: Factor I, asociado al procesamiento lingüístico más complejo como son la categorización, la interpretación de significado, las relaciones analógicas y la meta compresión; y el Factor II relacionado con los procesos de decodificación y codificación. El análisis factorial confirmatorio de los subtests mostró que el modelo propuesto de dos factores es válido. El Análisis Exploratorio de las áreas (Lenguaje Oral,...
