La hiperplasia condilar es una anomalía caracterizada por el crecimiento excesivo y progresivo de uno o ambos cóndilos, provocando una asimetría facial importante. En el artículo se presenta la resolución de un paciente del género masculino de 17 años de edad, que viene a la consulta por asimetría facial y maloclusión Clase III severa. Con diagnóstico de hiperplasia condilar activa, se realizó un tratamiento quirúrgico por medio de condilectomía alta y tratamiento ortodóntico de camuflaje, con remisión de la maloclusión y de la asimetría facial. Después de seis años de control postoperatorio, el paciente se presenta en buen estado, sin recidiva de la asimetría facial y de la hiperplasia condilar.

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge on prevention in oral health in pregnant women attending the Obstetrics and Gynecology Service of the Hipolito Unanue Nacional Hospital and San Jose Hospital-2011. We performed a prospective descriptive study, and Cross, in 249 pregnant women attending the Obstetrics and Gynecology Service of the Hipolito Unanue Hospital and 158 patients who came to San Jose Hospital (2011). A questionnaire was administered to measure the level of knowledge about preventive oral health, oral disease and the relationship between dental care and pregnancy. 84 % of all pregnant women surveyed reported no dental care.
