Hydrothermal vent activity is often associated with submarine volcanism. Here, we investigated the presence of microorganisms related to hydrothermal activity in the Orca seamount. Data profiling of the 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequences revealed a diversity pattern dominated mainly by the phyla Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria, Planctomycetes, and Bacteroidetes.

La presente investigación tiene como antecedentes la enterocolitis necrotizante como una patología que afecta principalmente a los neonatos pretérminos y de muy bajo peso al nacer, que presenta una incidencia del 7% a nivel mundial, afectando al 9.9% de los prematuros y hasta 12% en neonatos de muy bajo peso, con una mortalidad del 15 al 30% y hasta un 50% en neonatos que requieren de cirugía o complicaciones a largo plazo que afectan al desarrollo neurológico y producen un déficit de crecimiento.
