The present study aimed to determine the type of carbapenemase present in Enterobactales, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter spp. isolated from patients hospitalized in the ICU of Hospital IV "Víctor Lazarte Echegaray", during the COVID-19 pan-demic. In this descriptive, observational and cross-sectional study, biological samples were collected from patients hospitalized in the ICU, processed in the Microbiology Diagnostic Laboratory of Hospital IV "Víctor Lazarte Echegaray". Antimicrobial identification and sensitivity were performed with the AutoScan-4 automated system, and the RESISIT-3 O.K.N K-SET cassettes were used to identify the type of carbapenemase. Of a total of 129 cultures, 58,9% were found to be resistant to at least one carbapenem (Meropenem or Imipenem), of which 59,2% were Enterobacterales, 26,3% were Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 14.5% were% Acinetobacter...

Objective. The objectives of the study were to determine the seroprevalence of dengue infection and to identify the associated factors in the residents of the Fila Alta village, district of Jaén, department of Cajamarca, during the months of September to December 2019. Methods. Observational, cross-sectional, prospective study with a non-experimental design with a descriptive-correlational approach. The sample consisted of 172 inhabitants of both genders and the sampling was simple random. The seroprevalence of IgG antibodies was determined by indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and a structured survey was applied to identify the factors associated with dengue. Likewise, the chi-square test was used to establish the relationship between the variables studied. Results. IgG antibodies to dengue fever were present in 19.2 % of the population, being more frequent in women (12...

Hydrobiological products are highly perishable, which is why this research was carried out Hydrobiological products are highly perishable, which is why this research was carried out with the objective of evaluating the microbial load in the disinfection of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fillets concerning Staphylococcus aureus, aerobic mesophiles, Salmonella sp. and Escherichia coli, submerging at different times (30, 60 and 90 s) and concentrations (0.5, 1.5 and 2.5 ppm). Microbiological analysis was performed on days 1, 8, 15, and 22 of refrigeration (4 °C), controlling pH according to AOAC 981.12 (1990). The experimental design was 3O x 3T factorial, with three replicates per treatment. R Project was used to perform ANOVA and Tukey's tests. The results revealed that treatment with ozonated water, especially using 2.5 ppm ozone and 30 seconds of immersion (O3T1), showed a sig...

The consumption of artisanal cheeses is high in Jaén, but the hygienic and sanitary conditions during their sale and consumption are often inadequate, increasing the risk of exposure to Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). This study aimed to examine the prevalence and antibiotic resistance profile of S. aureus strains isolated from artisanal cheeses distributed in Jaén markets in 2024. A total of 100 samples, each weighing 25 grams, were collected from the 25 stalls available across five local markets. The techniques used for isolating and identifying S. aureus included mannitol salt agar, Gram staining, and catalase and coagulase tests. Antibiotic resistance was assessed using the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method, following INS guidelines, with sensitivity disks for amoxicillin, tetracycline, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, and norfloxacin. Of the 55 strains identified as S. aureus, 52.7...
