Background and objective: Andean lupin (Lupinus mutabilis Sweet) has health benefits with promising possibilities for food industry. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of processing (water debittering, extrusion, and spray-drying) on chemical composition, heat damage and in vitro protein digestibility in Andean lupin. Findings: The processing treatment modified all the parameters while the genotype showed limited effect. The untreated lupins had high protein and lipid content (47.4 and 16.2 g/100 g dry matter). The extruded products showed higher protein content (55.7 g/100 g) and digestibility (68.1%) than the untreated lupins, along with limited heat damage (8.7 mg furosine/100 g protein). Objetivo: Identificar los factores determinantes de la fecundidad en adolescentes atendidas en el hospital "Carlos Monge Medrano" de Juliaca. Material y métodos: Aplicación de una ficha de datos demográficos, sociales, culturales y económicos a una muestra representativa de 230 adolescentes entre 15 y 19 años atendidas en nuestro hospital. Se establece asociación entre los factores y la fecundidad con la prueba chi cuadrado. Resultados: La fecundidad en las adolescentes fue de 66,52%. Entre los grupos de edad, porcentajes similares de adolescentes ya eran madres, tanto el 62,50% de adolescentes de 15 años, como 66,67% de adolescentes de 19 años. Entre las convivientes el 69,50% eran madres, y entre las solteras el 46,67% eran madres, diferencia significativa. The present research evaluates the productive performance of guinea pigs fed with two different feed rations. Three groups of 15 male Peruvian guinea pigs were formed, each with three repetitions of five individuals. The guinea pigs in the control group (T0 ) were fed only with alfalfa, the first treatment group was fed with a combination of alfalfa and concentrated feed in a 3:1 ratio, respectively (T1 ), and the second experimental group was fed with ryegrass and the same balanced supplement, also in a 3:1 ratio (T2 ). At the end of the nine-week study, the average live weights obtained were 917.67 g in T0 , 948.13 g in T1 , and 911.60 g in T2 . Bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1) and bovine leukemia virus (BLV) are among the most important pathogens affecting dairy cattle, causing significant economic losses worldwide. The present study determined the seroprevalence of IBR (Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis) and BLV in dairy herds in Cajamarca, Peru. A total of 464 animals were sampled, and the presence of antibodies against BoHV1 and BLV was determined using commercial indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (I-ELISA) kits. Among the sampled animals, the overall seroprevalence was 8.84% (95% CI: 0.5–35.12) for BoHV1 and 7.54% (95% CI: 5.13–9.95) for BLV. The highest BLV seroprevalence was observed in Cajamarca (23.68%), while no positive cases were detected in four provinces.
