Dear Editor, Digital health applications have demonstrated benefits in several healthcare outcomes therefore it has become a serious alternative to getting Sustainable Development Goals 2030 related to health (1). In recent years, Latin America is creating policies and strategies for digital health. Peru is one of the earliest countries in Latin America that establish policies for eHealth and digital health but its implementation in the real world is limited (2). It is well known that some medical schools have courses related to informatics, Health Informatics (HI), or even medical informatics but there is no evidence about how many of peruvian medical schools teach HI within their curricula or what content or topics are provided.

Objective: To explore the available options of Latin American pediatric journals in which open access articles can be published. Methodology: A descriptive observational study of Scopus-indexed journals was conducted for the year 2023. The country of the publisher, open access publishing option, management of proprietary copyright, license for sharing, languages of publication, and associated publication costs were examined. In addition, their positioning was evaluated according to the Scimago Journal Rank quartile and H-index. Results: The journals are concentrated in five countries, with the majority in Brazil (4/10) and Mexico (3/10). 90% (9/10) of the journals had open access editorial policies, of which 66.6% (6/9) were diamond open access. Only one of the journals allowed authors to retain proprietary copyright, but 80% (8/10) used the Creative Commons license. 40% (4/10) of the jo...

Introduction: The application of an adequate system of prioritization of emergency care is essential to avoid more significant morbidity and mortality in critically ill pediatric patients. It is recommended that priority I, II, III, IV, and V cases have a maximum waiting time of 5, 15, 30, 60, and 120 minutes, respectively. This study aims to describe emergency waiting times according to care as a priority in a tertiary health hospital in Peru. Methods: This is a descriptive study, and the Emergency care records were used, between 2018 and 2022. Results: A total of 45,015 records of pediatric patients were included. 28.0% of cases with priority I, 86.9% of cases with priority II, 58.0% with priority attention III, 87.2% with priority attention IV, and 96.1% with priority V had the recommended wait time for your priority type. Conclusion: We found that the percentages of cases attended to...

“The birth of conjoined twins is one of the rarest neonatal conditions worldwide, with an incidence of 1 in 100,000 live births. Twins joined by the pelvis, known as ischiopagus, represent 6–11% of all conjoined twins. This clinical condition increases the degree of complexity in separation surgeries. Each case poses unique anatomical challenges, and clinical outcomes may vary according to the health facility where the infants are born or can access. This case report describes a successful separation surgery of ischiopagus conjoined twins in Peru. 3D printing and neurophysiological monitoring were used for surgical planning and intervention, allowing a fullscale anatomical model and preserving the mobility of the lower limbs of conjoined twins after surgery. This article demonstrates that established procedures and novel technologies can be valuable platforms for preoperative plannin...
