La ropa interior sintética no permite una adecuada ventilación y su uso prolongado aumentada la temperatura y humedad de la zona genital. El medio caluroso favorece el crecimiento de bacterias y gérmenes; por otro lado, la humedad produce variaciones en el pH vaginal. Es de suma importancia conocer el material de la ropa interior, ya que, sumado a malos hábitos de higiene en la zona genital, puede ocasionar la aparición de vaginosis bacteriana e ITU, las cuales se asocian a la amenaza de parto pretérmino.
