This report presents 16 cases of neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis NEC). We reviewed the clinical picture and the laboratory results of our patients. According to the presentation time we divided our series in early and late variety, as in the literature previously reported. The risk factors were gestational age of 35 weeks or less, birth weight under 1500 g, low Apgar score, hematocrit higher than 65%, early artificial feeding, umbilical vessels' catheterization and abnormal intestinal colonization with pathogen germs. We consider very valuable serial abdominal X ray pictures and paracentesis for the diagnosis of chirurgic acute abdomen. (An Fac Med UNMSM 11 Epoca 1989; 1 (1-2): 15-18).

Introduction. Aggressive and discriminatory behavior affects physical and mental health even on those who commit them. Students are subjected to stress, which increases the risk of those behaviors and makes them likely to suffer from its consequences. It has prompted major changes in neonatology. Advances in the field of medicine and technology allow the survival of infants who some years ago was impossible concebir1,4. These advances, however, have also brought discussions in the areas of morality, ethics and leyes1,8. The major conflicts have occurred with infants born with major birth defects, those born with low weight and extreme suffering severe perinatal asphyxia.

In recent years we have seen in Peru that has attracted considerable interest in neonatology. The greatest advances are confined to hospitals in the capital, and primarily on Social Security, but the permanent care and doctors in overcoming provinces shown.

El respeto es un valor que permite al ser humano reconocer, aceptar, apreciar y valorar las cualidades del prójimo y sus derechos. Es decir, el respeto es el reconocimiento del valor propio y de los derechos del individuo y de la sociedad.

El propósito de este trabajo es presentar una revisión narrativa sobre la humanización de la Pediatría, destacando la manera de acercarla al binomio madreniño, y a todos los involucrados en la asistencia sanitaria de la especialidad. La humanización de los spacios sanitarios es parte del concepto más amplio de humanización en el ámbito de la salud, al hacer participar a los niños hospitalizados en la percepción de un ambiente más cálido, que los aproxima al recuerdo del hogar. Se enfatiza el rol de la ética y la educación, al respetar el derecho de los niños, y se destacan los valores que deben regir la conducta de los miembros del equipo de salud. Se recomienda luchar contra la medicalización, en el afán de evitar la mercantilización de las enfermedades.

618 macrosomic babies in a population of 8,880 live births (6.9%) was studied. For purposes of our analysis considered 500 cases, finding the association of certain maternal and fetal macrosomia factors such as parity and age (43%), gestational age of 39 weeks or more (90%), maternal diabetes (1.9%) male (65%). The application of vacuum extractor was double that of the general population (4 .6%: 2.1%). Macrosomia morbidity was twice the normal newborn weight (28%: 14%). The incidence of asphyxia, meconium aspiration and trauma at birth increased the weight. The neonatal mortality rate in macrosomic was 8%, the cause of death related in particular to fetal size. Introduction. School victimization is a current problem in Peru. Gender approach in analysis allows the adaptation of differentiated intervention strategies. Objective. To determine the risk factors for victimization according to gender approach in school adolescents from cities of Huamanga and Sicuani. Design. Analytical cross-sectional observational. Participants. 1160 students from first to fifth grade from two schools (private and public) in Huamanga and Sicuani. Intervention. Validated survey to identify victims of bullying. Analysis. Introduction. There are national and international reports of the presence of stress in medical students, higher than in other professional careers; likewise, the presence of stress is related to low academic performance. Objective. To determine if there is an association between violence, stress and the academic performance of the first and sixth year medical students of the National University of San Marcos. Methods. It was surveyed 109 (47%) students of the 6th year, and 122 (53%) students of the 1st year. The perception of violence and stress were determined with validated instruments; academic performance was determined by the annual weighted average.
