Introduction: Dengue, a disease widely distributed in Peru, has increased incidence in recent years. Objective: Identify the population that resides in transmission scenarios, analyze the evolution of dengue and its association with demographic and socioeconomic factors. Materials and methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional, ecological study, using data from secondary sources of cases and demographic and socioeconomic information, publicly accessible; units of analysis at the district and national level, period 2010-2023. Incidence, fatality and mortality rates are estimated, and the association between cases and demographic and socioeconomic variables is analyzed. Results: At the national level, in the period 2010-2023, 606,266 cases were reported from 602 districts (408 with continuous transmission and 194 with sporadic cases), 75% of the national population resides in these scenarios. Dengue fever has experienced a global rise in incidence and distribution, largely influenced by climate variability. Nonetheless, the specific climatic thresholds that trigger elevated dengue incidence rates, and the time lag between weather conditions and the case surges remain uncertain. Average weekly climate variables along with weekly dengue incidence rates from 2001 and 2022 were analyzed in districts grouped by its climate zone. A cross-correlation technique was used to determine the time lag between climatic variables and dengue incidence, while a fine-tuned regression tree model was utilized to identify climatic thresholds linked to the incidence of dengue surges. This study identified distinct climatic thresholds that were met within a 20-week window preceding elevated dengue incidence rates in the six climate zones with the highest dengue prevalence in Peru. These insights enab...
