Las áreas naturales protegidas, en especial las de conservación regional, son importantes para preservar la biodiversidad, los servicios ecosistémicos y la recreación. Los objetivos de la investigación fueron: identificar el impacto ambiental que generan los visitantes y determinar la capacidad de carga en dos senderos turísticos (uno vehicular y otro peatonal) y en dos zonas de ritual del Área de Conservación Regional Huaytapallana – Junín – Perú. Existen dos categorías de visitantes que llegan al Área de Conservación Regional Huaytapallana (en adelante, ACR Huaytapallana). El primer grupo incluye a aquellos cuyo objetivo es participar en actividades de turismo de naturaleza y relacionadas, mientras que el segundo abarca a quienes llegan para realizar ceremonias y rituales en honor al nevado Huaytapallana.
