Background: Non-compaction cardiomyopathy (NCM) is known as the lack of maturation of the myocardium that is evidenced by prominent trabeculations and the presence of recesses in newborns and infants that can manifest clinically as heart failure. The purpose of the research is to evaluate the anatomical development of pediatric patients diagnosed with NCM at an early age. Clinical Case: Retrospective case series study of patients diagnosed with non-compaction cardiomyopathy during the first year of life, confirmed according to Jenni criteria, with echocardiographic follow-up every 6 months, from 2017 - 2021. The patients were diagnosed in the first months of life. life, 3 had associated heart disease, 3 had arrhythmias, 3 died and 1 abandoned the controls at 2 months of age. In the 3 patients who remained, it was evident that the ratio of non-compacted myocardium (NC) / compacted ...

Objective: To determine the maternal factors associated to fetal macrosomia in a Public Hospital of Lima - Peru, from January to October of 2018. Methods: Analytical, observational, retrospective study, of type cases and controls. A data collection form was used and for the statistical analysis the SPSS v25.0 program was used. Results: Of the 401 newborns, it was found that the weight gain during pregnancy 27.2% the mothers studied had an inadequate weight gain (OR=6.96, 95% CI4.22-11.48, p=0.00), regarding the prepregnancy weight category, and parity was 73 (73.7%). Also, maternal age was less than 35 years in 278 (92.1%), being statistically significant (p=0.004). Conclusion: It is concluded that there is a relationship of maternal factors such as inadequate weight gain during pregnancy, maternal pre-gestational weight, parity, maternal age associated with fetal macrosomia. The sample size was 206 parents who went with their children to the Emergency Service. A questionnaire approved by Valenzuela. M and the SPSS program were used to find the frequency, bivariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis of Poisson. Results: The prevalence of self-medication in children was 91.3%. Parents who only studied primary and secondary school were more likely to self-medicate their children APR=1.22 (95% CI: 1.01-1.40). The firstborn were protected from self-medication APR=0...

Introduction: Acute pancreatitis continue to be a disease with significant morbidity and mortality. It is diagnosed by clinical criteria and the inflammatory process can lead to organ failure. The objective of the present study was to compare the scales of APACHE II and BISAP in the development of organic failure in acute pancreatitis from a public hospital of Perú. Pacients and methods: An analytical from validation of a diagnostic test. There were clinical records of patients who were hospitalized with the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis in the Internal Medicine service and the Intensive Care Unit were evaluated. The APACHE II and BISAP scales were applied and the ROC curve, the sensitivity, the specificity, the positive and negative predictive value was calculated for each one. SPSSv23 was used for statistical analysis. Results: Were reviewed 146 stories that met the inclusion ...

Objective: To review, evaluate and synthesize available literature on neonatal and maternal factors and invasive procedures associated with late neonatal sepsis during the last ten years. Methods: The databases used for the bibliographic search were: Pubmed/Medline, LILACS, SciELO, and Google Scholar. Analytical studies investigating risk factors for late neonatal sepsis by stages (title, abstract and full text) were selected. The risk of bias was assessed using the Newcastle Ottawa Scale. Heterogeneity was set, and a random-effects meta-analysis was performed for the following risk factors: gender, gestational age, birth weight, Apgar score at 5 min, premature rupture of membranes, route of delivery, use of a central venous catheter, and ventilation. Mechanics. The effect was measured with an odds ratio. The certainty of the evidence was determined using the GRADE methodology. The proto...

Introduction: Anemia is a serious public health. Several studies indicate that anemia status is a factor that might influence survival and response to cancer treatment in patients. Objective: To determine the relationship between anemia and 5-year survival in cancer patients. Methods: Observational, analytical, and retrospective cohort study. The sample population consisted of novel diagnosed cancer patients registered for hospital care with their respective follow up from 2014 until 2019. Time to death, presence of anemia, and other variables were evaluated. Survival was determined using Kaplan Meier curves and analyzed using the log-rank test. Hazard ratio and risk were determined in turn using the Cox regression model. Results: 72 patients were included in the study, 79.2% of which correspond to solid neoplasms. Anemia was present at the time of diag...
