In strawberry cultivation with traditional technology, nitidulides cause a minimum decrease in post-harvest due to being associated with overripe fruits. Nitidulids were collected during December 2018 and January 2019, in fi elds in the district of Aucallama (Huaral) and Supe (Barranca), Peru. A total of 54 individuals, 2 subfamilies, two genera and two species were recorded and determined. Th e species with the highest incidence was Lobiopa insularis (Castelnau, 1840), with 81% of specimens collected. Th e other registered species were: Carpophilus hemipterus, Carpophilus sp.1 and Carpophilus sp.2.

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is a vegetable that presents versatility in cultivation techniques. Currently, research related to the productive behavior of cultivars and the evaluation of pests and diseases are being conducted. To minimize the damage of phytophagous insects on the production of leafy vegetables, the use of sticky traps of different colors has been recommended. Therefore, the purpose of this work was to identify the insects associated with the lettuce (L. sativa) crop trapped based on the chromatic trap (yellow and blue), using Razecol 100® (agricultural adherent), during the period from September to October 2022, under the Vegetable Research and Social Projection Program of the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, Lima, Peru. 866 individuals distributed in six orders (Diptera, Hemiptera, Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Neuroptera and Hymenoptera) and nine families were collec...

The study was conducted from January 18 to April 17, 2023, in an organic field of the Research and Social Projection Program - Vegetables of the National Agrarian University La Molina (UNALM), in the central coast of Lima, Peru, to evaluate the main phytophagous insects and natural enemies associated with the cultivation of Chard (Beta vulgaris L.), cultivar Fordhook Giant. The field was divided into four sectors of 39.2 m2 each and the evaluation corresponds to 32 plants per sector using the technique of direct evaluation of the plant; in addition, the damage caused by phytophagous insects was described. Three pests were evaluated: Conotrachelus sp. Dejean 1835, Diabrotica sp. Chevrolat, 1837 (adult insects) and Herpetogramma bipunctalis Fabricius, 1794 (larvae). Natural enemies were also evaluated at the same time as the pests. The amount of Conotrachelus sp. was higher compared to the...

The “achira” Canna edulis L. (Cannaceae) mainly distributed in South America and Mesoamerica, has been reported from a locality in North America, and introduced in Europe and Africa, as a host plant for larvae of Calpodes ethlius (Stoll, 1782) (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae), which has a cosmopolitan distribution, with emphasis on the Neotropical region. Two adults of C. ethlius were recovered and deposited in the San Marcos Natural Museum, lima, Perú coming from larvae collected on “achira” leaves in a family orchard in the city of Caraz (9°02’40.9” S, 77°48’27.8” W) in Ancash, Peru. This is the first record of this hesperiid at an altitude higher than 2000 masl.
