El objetivo del presente trabajo fue identificar el sexo de las especies mencionadas mediante amplificación por PCR del gen CHD1 a partir de muestras de ADN extraídas de plumas rectrices y 0.2 ml de tejido sanguíneo por individuo. De 81 aves capturadas temporalmente se obtuvieron 20 muestras de tejidos: 15 pares de muestras para Aglaeactis castelnaudii y 5 para Aglaeactis cupripennis. Se utilizó los cebadores específicos P2 / P8 (Griffiths et al., 1998), 2550F / 2718R (Fridolfsson & Ellegren, 1999) y CHDF/ CHDR (Lee et al., 2010). Los fragmentos obtenidos del gen CHD1Z (machos) fueron secuenciados haciendo uso de la técnica de Sanger. Además, se evaluó la influencia de los datos cualitativos (índices de edades y reproducción) sobre el sexado molecular y se realizó un análisis de hipótesis con la prueba no paramétrica de Mann–Whitney U para analizar os datos morfométricos...

Lontra longicaudis Olfers, 1818 is a widely distributed species in North, Central and South America. They are categorized as Near Threatened by the IUCN, but they are not under legal protection in Peru, where their documentation has been limited. Here we present occurrence data of this species inside the Manu Learning Centre biological station, in the Manu Biosphere Reserve from the period 2012 – 2022, and a suggestion about how to assess this species in the future, using already existing legal regulations.
