The architectural heritage of universities has played an important role during the twentieth century: the University City of Caracas, designed by architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva and University City of UNAM in Mexico are notable examples of urban planning and artistic ideals of Modern Movement in architecture. Both also have been declared World Heritage by UNESCO.In Peru the concept of contemporary heritage is a subject little studied and contemporary Peruvian architecture has few examples to refer to parent lines of urban and architectural thought in the twentieth century. Este libro explora diez edificios de la ciudad de Lima que son representativos para la arquitectura de la segunda mitad del siglo xx en el Perú. A través del análisis crítico y de la lectura en detalle, se puede entender el desarrollo de la forma y de la composición arquitectónica. Para ello, La forma construida cuenta con 200 dibujos entre planimetría, isometrías, esquemas y diagramas de estudio, así como textos críticos sobre los edificios estudiados y la arquitectura moderna del Perú y de América Latina.

En el análisis arquitectónico peruano hace falta un enfoque tipológico que asuma los multifamiliares entre medianeras como estructuras formales con un origen y múltiples desarrollos posibles. La investigación toma una muestra sistematizada de edificios de vivienda que tipifican el crecimiento en vertical del tejido urbano de Lima durante la modernidad (1940 a 1970) y los analiza bajo criterios que permiten revelar las (dis)continuidades tipológicas en su evolución. Buscamos descubrir en los ejemplos modernos, las huellas genéticas que persisten y las que se han perdido, así como sus causas y consecuencias en la vida doméstica y colectiva. This article forms part of a research project entitled History of the Uni-versity of Lima’s campus, which was based on the foundational project, designed by the architect Héctor Velarde Bergmann in 1964 and built in 1965. The objective was to identify the urban characteristics of the campus as well as investigate the relationship between the first University of Lima project and the other important university campus projects in Lima: the University City of San Marcos of 1956 and the Pontifical Catholic University campus of 1967. The urban characteristics of each of these campuses is analysed as well the University of Lima’s.

This article was prepared by a group of teachers of the courses of Architectural Project I and II from the University of Lima. It aims to address the issue of organizing the teaching-learning process in basic design workshops proposing some reference points from the analysis of the results of the university in these first 4 years of academic work. The 3 phases of the workshop process that are the step of motivation or creative drive, the process of design and evaluation are proposed.
