The present review aims to present and discuss the reasons that lead politicians to use personalistic vehicles to compete in national and subnational elections away from political party membership. Starting in the nineties, with the collapse and crisis of the political party system in Peru, lonely politicians understand that to win elections and gain access to representative power, they have to serve as partisan substitutes or surrogates to guarantee incentives, resources and political trajectories in the short term.

Urban mobility has become an important linking element for the city and its metropolitan spaces. The text has three objectives: the first of them takes as a theoretical basis the contributions of Gutiérrez (2010; 2012) to discuss urban mobility as a social travel practice, which combines needs and capacities to satisfy it and go further of an ontological vision that prioritizes arrival at places; the second objective seeks to reflect on the task of mobility in the urban structure of the city; and the third objective takes urban mobility as a theoretical approach to analyze its implication in unequal gender relations. The methodology was based on readings and critical reviews of studies on urban mobility carried out in Latin America. It reflects and concludes that, unlike transportation, mobility is a broader field that prioritizes the needs of people to travel, as well as their multiple...

The article starts by understanding the city as an element of urban life through public space and urban mobility. For this, a reflection is made on what has been produced about public space from the urban planning perspective, considering the legal, citizenship, and conflict approaches as well as its dimensions in the physical-territorial, economic, political, and cultural aspects. On the other hand, urban mobility is addressed as a social practice of traveling that combines the demands and the capabilities to satisfy them, differentiating it from the transport system. It is concluded that the public space as an analytical category is in constant tension since it shares both integration and conflict logics, and sheds a dim light over new ways of conceiving the concepts of public and private. Whereas urban mobility is not only a technical means of displacement like transportation, but pri...

The article has two objectives. To examine the employability characteristics of sociologists in the Peruvian labor market, and 2. To analyze the elements that make sociology a profession with capacity for recognition and public value in the system of professions. The methodology follows a mixed approach: for the first objective, 225 surveys were applied to sociologists from the Peruvian Association of Sociologists at the national level; for the second objective, eight interviews were conducted with sociologists who studied sociology at different universities in Peru. The results of the surveys show that employability is positioned in the public sector and the three levels of national government concentrate the highest percentages of job placement, to which is added the self-assessment of the social specialist as a generic typology of labor practice. The qualitative findings reveal that s...
