The Huaca Aznapuquio Archaeological Delimitation Project, directed by the first author on October 2007, has provided legal and technical basis to protect this site and new data about the historical processes in the lower Chillon Valley during late prehispanic times. In that sense, this paper describes the general results of the project about the occupational sequence in association to the Aznapuquio wetland, the architectonical structures partially exposed for our excavations and the presence of Ichma and Inca ceramic style. Finally, we discuss about the characteristics of the Late Horizon in the valley, the water resources prehistoric management and the archaeological indicators of Colli ethnic territory.

The cultural continuum methodology was created in 2011 during archaeological and cultural management intervention in the Mateo Salado archaeological complex (Cercado de Lima). This methodology proposes that all activities evinced into a monument along the time have same value as life styles, connecting in this way pre-Columbian archaeology, historic archaeology, archaeology of the contemporaneity, and public archaeology. It challenges temporal criteria must be determinant because it privileges an epoch at the expense of other ones and trends to select events for a grandiloquent diffusion. Likewise, the cultural continuum allows addressing contemporary and controversial issues in a monument usually seen as only pre-Hispanic. Identifica y explica continuidades y cambios religiosos en la actual comunidad campesina Santiago de Maray durante más de 600 años, desde el periodo Inca (con retrospectivas a siglos anteriores) hasta nuestros días. Para este fin, recurre a información arqueológica, histórica documental y etnográfica para analizar objetos, divinidades y ritos locales a lo largo del mencionado lapso. La colocación moderna de una huanca (monolito sagrado) en la plaza del pueblo de Maray Viejo, refleja un proceso religioso que tiene una dinámica altamente compleja detrás de su apariencia de “persistencia religiosa prehispánica”.
