The study was conducted in herds of llamas of peasant organizations in the district of Checacupe, Cusco Region, Peru, to determine the biometric measurements and live weight of the Ch’acu llamas based on sex and age. The measurements were grouped in cephalic, heights at withers and rump, cane perimeter and live weight, under a randomized complete design analysis with 2x5 factorial arrangement (α=0.5). An environmental enrichment programme was applied to pumas (Pumas concolor) of the Taraccasa Zoological Park in Abancay (Apurímac, Peru) to monitor behavioural changes. Four pumas or cougars (three females, one male) from 3 to 9 years old were observed. Four types of environmental enrichment were used: physical (wooden stools, tree trunks), food (equine meat, balanced feed for cats), sensorial (sacks with aromatic essences and spices, urine of foxes and deer), and social (balls made with equine skin). El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo evaluar características de calidad, crecimiento y rinde al descerdado de las fibras finas y gruesas de llamas K´ara, así como el efecto de factores que puedan afectar sus características. Se utilizaron 69 llamas K´ara, siendo 49 del CICS-Lachocc de la Universidad Nacional de Huancavelica (UNH) y 20 de la Comunidad Campesina de San Miguel de Mestizas (CC Mestizas) del departamento de Apurímac (Perú). Se tomaron muestras de fibras de tres zonas corporales: paleta (P), costillar (C) y nalga (N) y se registró la, edad, sexo, peso vivo y peso de vellón de llamas esquiladas en forma manual. Además, se determinó la longitud y tasa de crecimiento de fibras finas (“down”) y fibras gruesas (“guard hair”), con una regla metálica milimetrada.
