The aim of this study was to determine and compare the biochemical characteristics of fresh and thawed seminal plasma of alpacas. Semen was collected by electroejaculation from four adult males, once a week per four weeks. Semen was centrifuged and the seminal plasma was separated. One part was analysed fresh and other stored for one month on liquid nitrogen and then thawed and analysed. Levels of glucose, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, total protein, albumin, calcium, alkaline phosphatase, ALT and -GT were determined. Only the triglycerides significantly decreased due to the process of freeze/thawed, where the values were 44.12 ± 7.38 and 27.31 ± 4.65 mg/dl in fresh and thawed respectively

En el presente estudio se describe la aplicación de pruebas estandarizadas para el diagnóstico inmunológico de la hidatidosis humana en el Instituto de Medicina Tropical "Daniel A. Carrión", Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Lima, Perú. Estas se emplearon para obtener la confirmación prequirúrgica de la parasitosis en situaciones clínicas, y para la detección de portadores asintomáticos de quistes hidatídicos mediante encuestas. Los resultados se utilizaron como fuente de datos para evaluar la calidad de la información que sobre el número de casos de la afección en distintas áreas ecológicas, se obtiene a partir de los casos hospitalarios notificados a los niveles oficiales. A prospective study of two groups of fifty patients each were conducted. The objective was to evaluate the use of antibiotics in vaginal hysterectomy for the prevention of vaginal infections dome. The selection was ramdomnizada forming independent samples under established criteria. The study group received an intravenous cephalothin sodium gram before entering the operating room and then two more doses at intervals of six hours. The control group received nothing. In analyzing the results, we see that there was not a single case of infection in both groups dome, both the study and control groups. Applying the test "T" statistical significance for studying the contrast of two independent samples, we can say that the administration of antibiotics is not necessary in these cases. The vaginal preparation in the pre-operative is fundamental.

We designed and tested the feasibility of the Smoking Cessation Training Program for Oncology Practice (STOP), a hybrid (face-to-face plus web-based) educational intervention to enhance Spanish-speaking cancer care professionals’ (CCPs’) ability to provide brief smoking prevention and cessation counseling to cancer patients and survivors. Changes in the CCPs’ competencies (knowledge, attitude, self-efficacy, and practices toward smoking and smoking cessation services) were assessed post-training. This study aimed to identify the presence of relationship between satisfaction with life, attitudes towards Purchase and consumption, and attitudes towards debt. The sample was composed by 744 persons from the city of Temuco and commune of Padre Las Casas, who were administered the scale of satisfaction with life, the scale of attitudes toward debt and the attitudes toward consumption and purchase scale. The results show that a higher level of satisfaction with life is related directly with to austere attitudes toward debt and attitudes towards rational purchase. It is also reported that a low level of satisfaction with life correlated inversely with attitudes toward compulsive, impulsive and hedonistic purchase.

El presente estudio buscó identificar la presencia de relación entre la satisfacción con la vida,actitudes hacia la compra y el consumo y actitudes hacia el endeudamiento. La muestra se conformó por 744 personas pertenecientes a la ciudad de Temuco y la comuna de Padre Las Casas, a quienes se les administró la escala de satisfacción con la vida, la escala de actitudes hacia el endeudamiento y la escala de actitudes hacia la compra y el consumo. Los resultados muestran que un mayor nivel de satisfacción con la vida se relaciona de modo directo con actitudes hacia el endeudamiento austeras y actitudes hacia la compra racionales. Se reporta además que un nivel bajo de satisfacción con la vida correlaciona de modo inverso con actitudes hacia las compras compulsivas, impulsivas y hedonistas.

Introduction: Erectile dysfunction is highly prevalent in the population and vascular and neural processes are involved in its pathophysiology, including those related to late complications of diabetes mellitus. Objective: To determine the association between diabetes mellitus and corpus cavernosum arterial insufficiency in patients with erectile dysfunction. Methods: Cross-sectional study of secondary data analysis conducted in a private health facility in Lima during the year 2022. Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of erectile dysfunction were included. The independent variable was the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and the dependent variable was the diagnosis of corpus cavernosum arterial insufficiency.
