Hepatocarcinoma is the second cause of death in the world related to cancer and in our country we find patients with large liver tumors that are unresectable and are only tributaries of palliative treatments with little survival, however with an adequate selection of patients in teams multidisciplinary we can offer an extended hepatectomy to many of these patients, so we present the case of a young adult patient with hepatitis B and giant hepatocarcinoma to which we performed an extended left hepatectomy is disease free survival at 14 months after surgery. Introduction: Our country has a high prevalence rate of hydatid cyst. The present study, was performed ina national reference center, and it is the first Peruvian study to compare the clinical and economic resultsof surgical techniques for the treatment of this disease. Objective: To compare the clinical and economicresults for laparoscopic surgery and open surgery in the treatment of hepatic hydatid cyst. Methods: Themedical records of all patients who underwent open partial cystectomy and laparoscopic partial cystectomy(2013-2015) were retrospectively reviewed. Morbidity, mortality, recurrence, operative time, length ofhospital stay, postoperative pain, and medical rest were evaluated. The costs per patient were found usingthe ABC costing system. Results: 22 patients were underwent open partial cystectomy (group 1) and 13underwent laparoscopic (group 2). There weren ́t differences in ...

Objective: To determine the level of the technical skills development of the medical student in performing surgical sutures through a virtual teaching model. Methods: A retrospective, descriptive and longitudinal study was carried out that evaluated some skills of 24 undergraduate medical students, without prior surgery knowledge to perform surgical sutures (simple and crossed interrupted suture) through virtual teaching of the course of surgical technique (virtual classrooms, synchronous videoconferences, inanimate and ex vivo simulation models and telementoring). Results: In relation to the simple interrupted suture, there was a significant improvement in the OSATS (objective structured assessment of technical skills) from 6 ± 0.28 to 28 ± 2.6 as well as the rubric of the finished suture from 5 ± 0.28 to 24 ± 1.5 and a decrease in the time to perform the suture from 44 ± 13 second...

Objective: To evaluate the skills achieved by the undergraduate medical student in performing an open appendectomy and purse string in the simulation model created, to evaluate the degree of satisfaction of its use and to determine its costs. Method: Pre-experimental, prospective and longitudinal study. The skills achieved by 24 undergraduate medical students in performing an open appendectomy and purse string in the simulator were evaluated using the OSATS (Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills) through virtual teaching. A survey was conducted to the students to evaluate the simulator and its costs were determined. Results: There was a significant increase in the OSATS of the skills achieved, from 7 (pre-test) to 26 ± 5.71 points (final post-test) (p = 0.0001) and reduction in the operative time from 12 ± 3.81 minutes (first post-test) to 8 ± 2.02 minutes (final post-te...

Hepatic cystadenoma is a very rare neoplasm, with less than 250 cases reported in the world literature, which occurs more frequently in women. Due to the difficulty of differentiating the simple cyst and the hydatid cyst with the hepatic cystadenoma; as well as its recurrence and possibility of dysplasia or carcinoma, if it is not treated by complete resection, we present the case of a woman of 56 years old with history of simple hepatic cyst treated on 2 occasions with simple hepatic cyst unroofing and that they relapsed, so it was a hepatic cystadenoma. Objective: To determine the associated factors of organizational communication among health personnel in the physiotherapy department of a private clinic in Lima, Peru. Methods: The research was non-experimental, quantitative, observational, and analytical. The sample was census-based and consisted of 100 healthcare professionals. Information was collected using a questionnaire segmented by sociodemographic and work-related factors, in addition to the organizational communication questionnaire from Portugal; in the same way, the Chi-square test was applied. Results: No factor was found to be signifcantly associated with organizational communication, as the p-value was greater than 0.05. However, personnel withhigh organizational communication were mostly between the ages of 18 and 29 (56.7%), 59.3%were male, and 72.7% were medical doctors, compared to those with medium or low levelsof or...
