The objective of the study was to analyze the environmental protection and conservation management developed by the environmental unit (EU) of the district municipalities of the departments of the jungle region of Peru. A descriptive, cross-sectional study was developed, and the environmental indicators reported by the National Survey of Municipalities 2019, of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics were used. The data were organized in Microsoft Excel and analyzed using descriptive statistics with Stata version 15. The existence of a gap between the number of EU installed and those required by departments was determined, identifying a greater problem in Amazonas and Loreto. The most frequent complaints by type of contamination were: noise, water and air pollution. The main types of pollutants reported were: uncontrolled domestic animal husbandry, sewage, and deforestation ...

The objective of the study was to analyze the relationship between the variable's didactic strategies and clinical skills developed by students of Veterinary Medicine at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) in Lima-Peru. The study was observational, descriptive, and correlational. A survey was applied to measure the perception of didactic strategies (teaching perception, cognitive, procedural, and attitudinal), and clinical skills were measured through the application of a questionnaire and a rubric. With Stata software (version 17), the relative and absolute frequency of the student's characteristics and the results of the questionnaire were determined. In addition, Spearman's correlation test was applied to evaluate the correlation between the study variables. A total of 167 students participated, who were between the 2nd and 8th academic cycles. Females represented 76.6...

The objective of this study was to analyze the sociodemographic, microeconomic, and macroeconomic factors that influenced chicken consumption in Peru from 2016 to 2020. An observational, descriptive, retrospective, and correlational study design was employed. Data were collected from the digital platform of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Midagri) and the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI). The results revealed steady growth in consumption. The Pearson correlation coefficient identified a strong, positive, and significant linear relationship between consumption and sociodemographic variables: educational level (r = 0.95; p= 0.01) and population growth (r = 0.99; p = 0.0004); macroeconomic factors: GDP (r = 0.90; p = 0.03) and import of hard yellow corn (r = 0.93; p = 0.01); and a microeconomic factor: national consumption of hard yellow corn (r= 0.99; p =...

In Peru, the venom inoculated by the bite of spiders of the genus Loxosceles represents a public health problem due to the clinical damage it causes in people and the number of reported cases. Since 2016, the department of Arequipa has ranked first in reported cases at the national level. The objective was to determine the score or optimal level of knowledge about accidents caused by loxoscelism (NOCACL) of the population of Arequipa for 2019. The study was observational, descriptive and cross-sectional. Six variables were considered: name of the province/district; recognition of the genus Loxosceles as poisonous; knowledge of the symptoms caused by the spider bite; knowledge of the care measures to be taken in case of a bite; recognition of the types of spider habitats within the domicile; and knowledge of the environmental control measures to avoid the presence of the spider within the...

The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between population growth and micro- and macroeconomic factors influencing chicken meat production in Peru during the 2016–2020 period. An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational research design was employed. The calculation of the Pearson correlation coefficients revealed strong, positive, and statistically significant linear relationships between chicken meat production and demographic variables (population growth: r = 0.9951; p = 0.0004), microeconomic variables (average annual household income: r = 0.8824; p = 0.0475; national consumption of hard yellow maize: r = 0.9442; p = 0.0157), and macroeconomic variables (import of hard yellow maize: r = 0.9472; p = 0.0145; gross domestic product: r = 0.9106; p = 0.0316). A significant negative linear relationship was also observed with soybean meal imports (...

The aim of this study was to determine the knowledge of the Peruvian population about the actions that make up the preventive triad of rabies that were reported in the National Survey of Budgetary Programs 2020. The independent variables were the departments of the country (includes Callao), area (urban and rural), geographic region (coast, highlands and jungle) and urban sociodemographic strata (A, B, C, D and E). The study retrieved information from 52 791 surveys, finding that the most frequently recognized component of the preventive triad was going to the health facility (85.4%), followed by washing the wound with plenty of soap and water (43.1%) and, by last, identify the aggressor animal (15.5%). These components were recognized more frequently in urban areas and on the coast of the country. A positive and direct correlation was found between knowledge of the components of th...

This study aimed to describe the demographic, clinical, and imaging characteristics of canine patients with liver enzyme alterations treated at a veterinary center in Lima, Peru, during the 2019-2023 period. The study design was observational, descriptive, and cross-section. The sampling was non-probabilistic and census-based. A total of 116 medical records were reviewed, and the variables considered included demographic characteristics (sex, breed, age), clinical (signs), blood biochemistry (alanine aminotransferase [ALT], aspartate aminotransferase [AST], and alkaline phosphatase [ALP]), and ultrasonographic findings. The database was organized using Microsoft Excel (version 16), processed, and analyzed with descriptive statistics using STATA software (version 18). The most frequent demographic characteristics were male sex (56.03%; n = 65), mixed breed (52.59%; n = 61), and adult age ...
