In academy, which includes scientific management or industrial engineering, decisions in organizations and the techniques used are fully based on rational criteria, including various techniques derived from learning from experience, called intuitive or heuristic. Academia does not consider approaches that are not framed within the rational criteria, since it considers that they do not exist or are irrelevant. The objective of the study is to develop a different approach to decision making under a transdisciplinary perspective and through the design of a conceptual model of decisions that considers the range of rational and meta-rational decisions in all organizational scenarios where problems are solved. It has been found that professionals define the decision criteria according to the perceived scenario: if it is simple and concrete, the technique is systematic and focused; if it is und...

There are two ways to solve problems in organizations. The fi rst is the traditional one, which states that unwanted situations are resolved by identifying the troubling facts and applying the appropriate technical tools, the second approach considers the resolution of problems is preset by the manager based on their perspective and infl uenced by the circumstances surrounding it. This paper is based on the second side, the manager knows business models and paradigms are learned through actual experience, theoretical study, technological design or creative intuition, which provide a particular perspective on the problem, which is complemented with relativism of circumstances: 1°) the role and status by level of resolution, 2°) professional and choice preferences, 3°) goals, group identity and culture, 4°) historical path and epistemological framework. To understand and solve business problems, the decision maker has a basic orientation to any dimensión of the organization. The 4 dimensións model is based on the perspective to understand and manipulate the business world: technical perspective that manages things and human perspective that is responsible for directing people to the task and performance, integration of both perspectives defines the basic preference of decision maker. The circumstance, that represents the problematic situation, alters this perception and restricts the options of choice. So the understanding of issues is related to the preference of decision maker and its solving is influenced by environmental pressures. This study attempts to show the effect of circumstance on the decision maker’s preference. The basic orientation of decision makers is varied and does not follow a particular pattern, but given the pr...
