Esta investigación se realizó con el objetivo principal de explorar el vínculo entre el cuidador y su mascota entre jóvenes de 18-24 años y sus mascotas en Lima Metropolitana. Se contó con siete participantes entre varones y mujeres que han vivido al menos un año con su mascota (perro o gato). Se trató de un estudio cualitativo donde se tuvo como herramienta principal la entrevista semi-estructurada para recolectar información. Los resultados se organizaron desde un análisis de contenido. Esto permitió encontrar que el vínculo con la mascota era influenciado por las vivencias del individuo, dinámica familiar, fantasías y deseos. Producto de la dinámica de estos elementos y la convivencia con la mascota el individuo le otorgaba un significado que se manifestó en una conducta. Un hallazgo fue que el vínculo con la mascota resultaba beneficioso para la mascota porque recibía atención y el dueño, quien buscaba satisfacer necesidades psicológicas como sentir tranquilidad, calma y felicidad. Además, se evidenciaron cambios en el auto-concepto a través de reflexiones, insights y descubrimiento de aspectos personales. Se concluye que la mascota puede ser una forma simple de generar experiencias positivas en la vida de la persona y su entorno a través de la convivencia. |

Se concluye que la mascota puede ser una forma simple de generar experiencias positivas en la vida de la persona y su entorno a través de la convivencia.This research was conducted with the main objective of exploring the bond between the caregiver and his pet among young people aged 18-24 years and their pets in Metropolitan Lima. There were seven participants between men and women who have lived at least one year with their pet (dog or cat). It was a qualitative study where the semi-structured interview to collect information was the main tool. The results were organized from a content analysis. This allowed us to find that the bond with the pet was influenced by the experiences of the individual, family dynamics, fantasies and desires. Product of the dynamics of these elements and the coexistence with the mascot the individual gave him a meaning that was manifested in a behavior. One finding was that the bond with the pet was beneficial for the pet because it received attention and the owner, who sought to satisfy psychological needs such as feeling calm, calm and happiness. In addition, there were changes in the self-concept through reflections, insights and discovery of personal aspects.
