Esta investigación se desarrolló basada en los aportes de las teorías: del habitus de Pierre Bourdieu, de la estructuración de Anthony Giddens y en la teoría de la interculturalidad de Néstor García Canclini. La información se obtuvo utilizando técnicas como la entrevista y la observación participante. De los resultados se concluye que la identidad cultural afrodescendiente de los pobladores del centro poblado Capote está debilitada y en algunos casos perdida debido al desconocimiento y desapego de su cultura y a la normalización de las formas de discriminación y exclusión sufridas desde los tiempos de la hacienda.
