Objetivo: Determinar si la adicción a internet está asociado a conductas alimentarias de riesgo en estudiantes de medicina. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio observacional, de tipo analítico, transversal. La población de estudio estuvo conformada por 110 alumnos del 5to y 6to año de medicina humana de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego. Resultados: Se evidenció la prevalencia de adicción a internet y conductas alimentarias de riesgo. La razón de prevalencias entre adicción a internet y conductas alimentarias de riesgo es 0.57 [IC 95% 0.07 - 4.45], con un p=0.593 (p<0.05). Y su correlación entre ambos puntajes mediante el coeficiente de Spearman, es de 0.136 [IC 95%: -0.065 a 0.328], y un p=0.157. Solo procedencia y ciclo académico resultaron tener asociación significativa con conductas alimentarias de riesgo. Conclusiones: En nuestro estudio pudimos concluir, no hay asociación estadísticamente significativa entre adicción a internet y conductas alimentarias de riesgo en estudiantes del 5to y 6to año de medicina humana

Excessive exposure to the Internet, and therefore to multiple stressors and social pressures, can trigger these risky eating behaviors. Objective: Determine if Internet addiction is associated with risky eating behaviors in medical students. Materials and methods: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was carried out. The study population was made up of 110 students from the 5th and 6th year of human medicine at the Antenor Orrego Private University. Results: The prevalence of Internet addiction and risky eating behaviors was evident. The prevalence ratio between Internet addiction and risky eating behaviors is 0.57 [95% CI 0.07 - 4.45], with p=0.593 (p<0.05). And its correlation between both scores using the Spearman coefficient is 0.136 [95% CI: -0.065 to 0.328], and p=0.157. Only origin and academic year turned out to have a significant association with risky eating behaviors.
